Thin Wall Stainless Steel & Alloy Tubes

Small-diameter tubes in stainless steel and special alloys, including Inconel, Hastelloy and Monel, 8 mm to 12.7 mm outside diameter with a wall thickness of 0.5 mm to 1 mm, supplied from Umbergaon, Gujarat.

Overview

Stainless Steel And Alloy Tubes, 0.5 mm To 1 mm Wall

Ruby Infra Projects supplies thin wall tubes from 8 mm to 12.7 mm (1/2 inch) outside diameter, with wall thicknesses from 0.5 mm to 1 mm, in stainless steel and in special alloys such as Inconel, Hastelloy, Monel, duplex, titanium and copper-nickel. A thin wall keeps weight and material cost down and suits tubing that is formed, bent or fabricated.

Send the alloy, outside diameter, wall thickness, length and quantity, and the team will confirm availability, lead time and a quotation. Custom specifications and cut-to-length service are available, with material test certificates from Government or NABL-accredited laboratories on every batch, under an ISO 9001:2015 certified quality system.

Alloys

Stainless Steel And Alloy Grades Available

Choose the alloy from the environment, temperature and chemicals the tube will see. Grade guidance is general; confirm with your design engineer. The grades named are common examples, and availability depends on the alloy and size.

AlloyWhat it isWhere it fits
304Roughly 18-20% chromium and 8-11% nickel; good general corrosion resistanceGeneral tubing, food, interior and architectural use
304LLow-carbon 304, carbon limited to about 0.03-0.035%, so welds resist intergranular corrosionWelded or heat-exposed service
316 / 316LAdds about 2-3% molybdenum for much better resistance to chlorides and pittingMarine, coastal, chemical and process environments
321Titanium-stabilised; resists intergranular corrosion after exposure to roughly 425-850 CHigh-temperature piping, exhaust and heat-exchanger service
309 (Cr23Ni13)Higher chromium and nickel for better oxidation resistance than 304 at elevated temperatureIntermediate-temperature service
310 (Cr25Ni20)About 24-26% chromium and 19-22% nickel; strong resistance to oxidation and scaling at very high temperatureHigh-temperature service
Duplex / super duplex (for example 2205, 2507)Two-phase stainless steels with high strength and good resistance to chloride stress corrosion crackingMarine, offshore and chemical process service
SMO 254Super austenitic stainless steel with high molybdenum for strong resistance to pitting and crevice corrosionSeawater and chloride-rich process service
Alloy 20Austenitic nickel-iron-chromium alloy with copper and molybdenum, resistant to sulphuric acidChemical processing
NickelCommercially pure nickel, resistant to caustic alkalisCaustic and chemical service
Monel (for example 400)Nickel-copper alloy resistant to seawater and many acids and alkalisMarine and chemical service
Inconel (for example 600, 625, 718)Nickel-chromium alloys that resist oxidation and corrosion at high temperatureFurnaces, heat exchangers and high-temperature equipment
Incoloy (for example 800, 800H, 800HT)Nickel-iron-chromium alloys that resist oxidation and carburisation at high temperatureFurnaces, heat exchangers and petrochemical processing
Hastelloy (for example C276, C22)Nickel-molybdenum-chromium alloys with excellent resistance to severe corrosive chemicalsAggressive chemical processing
TitaniumLight and strong, with high resistance to corrosion in seawater and chloridesMarine and chemical service
Copper-nickel (for example 90/10, 70/30)Copper-nickel alloys that resist seawater corrosionSeawater and marine service
Carbon steel / alloy steelNon-stainless steels for duty that does not need corrosion resistanceGeneral and high-strength service
Other alloysAny other alloy can be quoted on requestSend your specification

Choosing

Choosing The Alloy And A 0.5 mm Or 1 mm Wall

Pick the alloy from the corrosion, temperature and chemical conditions: 304 or 316 for general and marine service, duplex or SMO 254 for chloride-rich environments, Inconel or Incoloy for high temperature, and Hastelloy or Monel for aggressive chemicals or seawater. A thinner wall means a lighter, lower-cost tube that forms and bends easily; a thicker wall adds strength and margin for pressure, temperature and fabrication. Confirm the alloy and wall thickness with your design engineer, and tell us the standard so the tube is quoted correctly.

Standards

Standards For Stainless Steel And Alloy Tubes

State the specification your project or inspector requires.

MaterialTypical specification
Stainless steel (welded)ASTM A249: welded austenitic steel boiler, superheater, heat-exchanger and condenser tubes
Stainless steel (general)ASTM A269: seamless and welded austenitic stainless steel tubing for general service
Nickel and special alloysThe applicable ASTM B-series specification for the alloy; send your specification with the enquiry

For seamless stainless steel tubes to ASTM A213, A249, A269 and A312, see our seamless stainless steel tubes page.

Ruby Infra Projects supplies tubes from 8 mm to 12.7 mm outside diameter in wall thicknesses from 0.5 mm to 1 mm. Send your alloy, size, length and quantity for availability, lead time and a quotation.

Which alloys are available in thin wall tube?

Stainless steel grades including 304, 304L, 316, 316L, 321, 309 and 310, plus duplex and super duplex, SMO 254, Alloy 20, nickel, Monel, Inconel, Incoloy, Hastelloy, titanium, copper-nickel, and carbon and alloy steel, with other alloys on request. Availability depends on the alloy and size.

Does Ruby Infra Projects supply Inconel and Hastelloy tubes?

Yes. Ruby Infra Projects supplies Inconel, Hastelloy, Monel, Incoloy and other nickel alloy tubes in thin wall sizes on request. Send the alloy, standard, outside diameter, wall thickness and quantity, and the team will confirm availability and a quotation.

Should I choose 304 or 316 for thin wall tube?

Both are austenitic stainless steels. Grade 304 suits general corrosion resistance. Grade 316 adds about 2-3% molybdenum, which gives much better resistance to chlorides and pitting, so it is preferred for marine, coastal, chemical and process environments.

Are these welded or seamless tubes?

Thin wall stainless steel tubes in this size range are supplied as welded tube. For other alloys, say whether you need welded or seamless and the team will confirm what is available for your alloy and size. For seamless stainless steel tubes to ASTM A213, A249, A269 and A312, see our seamless tubes page.
